KARATE is a self-defense ( meaning empty hands ) system that utilizes the whole body and the ways in which it moves and twists. Techniques vary from punching and striking with the fists, elbows and hands to kicking and striking with feet , shins and knees as weapons.
Like many of the martial arts, Karate is often seen by those who have no experience of it as a killing art, but there is more to it. If you experience it first hand as a practitioner, you will know the real story.
Karate, whether practiced as an art, sport, or form of self-defense, results in the physical attributes sought by many athletes. It became popular in schools, offices, factories, law enforcement agencies and the armed services.
Why Not Study a Traditional Martial Art?
There is nothing wrong with studying a martial art. However, many people do not have the time to make the long term commitment to study martial arts. Self defense programs require less commitment.
Martial arts being designed from a man's perspective do not adequately prepare a women to defend herself against the kind of assaults women can commonly be subjected to. Men do not attack women the way they attack other men. Women need a program that will teach them how to defend themselves against attackers, how to fight on the ground, and how to effectively defend themselves in a short period of time to avoid being thrown on the ground.
Kick Boxing (Full Contact and Light Contact)
Full contact kickboxing fights are fought in a ring. As it suggests, full contact fighters are allowed to throw kicks and punches at the maximum power to reach a knock out.
Light contact kickboxing is an intermediate stage between the semi-contact and full contact styles. It uses controlled techniques. The fight is continuous, and it is not stopped after every strike as it is with semi-contact
Karate ( personal training )
